I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Starbucks (San Luis Obispo, CA) in Sep 2008
Interview
I was up for promotion from Shift Supervisor to Assistant Manager and had to interview with my District Manager, and the DM from the nearby District. It consisted of leading a coffee tasting with them, answering a few scenario questions, going over goals (personal and store related), and asking questions of my own. My advice to Shifts going for promotion is to seriously think about it...it's a lot of work with crap pay and either respect from the Manager or from the partners, but not both. If you decide to still go with it: build a strong relationship with your DM and treat the interview as more of a conversation.
