I applied in-person. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at The Y (YMCA) (Cypress, TX) in May 2014
Interview
I was asked to take a swim test to show that I was capable of being a lifeguard. This would be very easy for anyone on swim team but I had not done swim in over 5 years and I worked out legs an hour prior so I was greatly exhausted. The swim test included a 50 free, 50 breast, 50 back, 25 side stroke(each side), and treading water with your hands above your head for 2 minutes. After this I changed back into my interview clothes and answered the questions she asked, very easy and nothing to worry about. The interviewer makes sure you are comfortable.
Smooth and welcoming. The interaction was positive and conversation flowed nicely throughout. I felt like my answers were being listened to, and that the interviewers were very engaged with me and what I had to say.

Question 1
What my background was and how it would fit into this role
very good. good people there who work there and i like to work there because it is very fun being outside and talking with good people and free popsicles and the interviewer was nice and respectful and all oof that.
The interview process was overall easy. You just need to have your certifications, you need to pass a breathing test, and you need to pass a swim test. Pretty easy interview.
