I applied online. I interviewed at Toast Inc (Boston, MA) in Jan 2022
Interview
Best interview process I've ever had. First step was a call with a recruiter, then onto a call where you're assigned a current Toast product that you pitch to a manager. Your third meeting is a Zoom call with general interview questions along with a prospecting presentation and your revised product pitch. Lastly was a Zoom call with the VP of sales. The process took about 3 weeks and everyone involved was extremely helpful and pleasant. Great to know that Toast really cares about who they bring on to the team.

Question 1
How would you deal with an unhappy customer that wasn't in your assigned territory?
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Toast Inc (Chicago, IL) in Aug 2022
Interview
Recruiter was very dry throughout the interview. Seemed she was reading off a script. I was very engaged and motivated and the recruiter did not express any emotion throughout. There were even awkward silences. Uncomfortable experience.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Toast Inc in Jul 2022
Interview
I waited 3 weeks after being selected for an interview to meet with a recruiter. The rest of the interview process took an additional 3 weeks. I turned down another job offer in the meantime, which was a huge gamble, but I'm very happy with my decision. The interviewers were all very charismatic and attentive listeners, spoke very freely about what they like about their current alignment and what could improve, and gave me great feedback on how I could improve their very lengthy assignments. I spent over 10 hours between interviewing and doing/correcting the homework, and there was a little disorganization between the different interviewers, but this was still the best interview process I've experienced.

Question 1
Why are you interested in Toast? Why are you leaving your current role and company? Why did you choose "X Potential Customer" for your assignment and presentation? What would you say is your greatest weakness professionally?
Thank you for sharing this feedback! Although I'm disappointed to hear that your interview process was not as seamless as I would have hoped, I am glad to hear you enjoyed many aspects of it. I will be sure to share your feedback with the team. Welcome to Toast!
negative experience - strung along through more than 4 interviews - each took hours of prep time and the final interview you could tell the VP came in knowing they didn't want you. Looking for a very specific type of person.
Thank you for taking the time to interview with us. I am really disappointed to hear that this was your experience, and I'd like to know more about what happened here. We are inspired by the uniqueness and diverse perspectives we all bring to the table.
