I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Toptal (Quito) in Mar 2016
Interview
It consists of 4 steps.
1. A phone interview with someone nice from human resources.
2. Algorithms test. A bit hard but ok.
3. Live coding with someone. ok.
4. Build a project.
I was given an exercise to build for iOS, where the instructions clearly you could use X technology for the backend. The day of the interview I was told I wouldn't be able to work on servers if I used that. So I was sent back to repeat the whole project with very little time.
I think it is a very automated project to get a lot of developers and see if someone hires them through toptal. Interviewer spoke a very broken english and was very problematic.
Firmly believe it would have gotten a lot better if I got another interviewer. Everyone else were actually nice.
