I applied online. I interviewed at U.S. Financial Technology
Interview
Painstakingly slow process right from initial candidate prescreening. Received a response after repeated followups that I was scheduled for a phone screen. Took the HR to get back a little shy of 2 weeks after receiving my prescreening form. Was told that one person will phone screen me. Mid way into interview, I hear loud laughter to one of my responses. It was not a neighbor sitting close by that I heard. I am certain there was someone else unannounced in the room. Was humiliating to be laughed at. No professionalism or concern. The call ended alright besides that one embarrassing moment. Then a second round with the hiring manager and other team members scheduled for a date and then rescheduled due to conflicts. Total understandable. I did my best to answer what I could and for sure did not have answers for one or two. The interview lasted about 25 mins as opposed to a scheduled 1 hr plus. I knew it did not go as well as I expected. Asked what is the next step in the process.
The hiring manager it was I believe that said we would like you to meet a candidate who has started a week ago, to see how you both would get along. Hearing this I am thinking maybe I have a chance. So asked when can I expect to hear from you all. I was told we will share notes and should get back next week with in 2 to 3 days. Waited for more than a week and half to receive a feedback. Upon repeated follow ups, I get a routine response "we are not moving forward at this point. They decided to move forward with another candidate".
I asked for a feedback that would help me understand what were my shortcomings. Again repeated follow ups. And I am told they don't have the feedback to share. And also that the position is closed because they filled with a candidate who went through the final interviews and that my profile will be kept for consideration for other positions.
Total waste of time, as a prospect I have the responsibility to follow up but as a company bringing in new people also share the responsibility of portraying some professionalism. I am not sure I am glad that I was not selected or have I lost an opportunity with a good company that probably has a few rotten apples in the basket.
Irony is that I was not even told what salary range was being offered for this position. Understand that this is a financial company but so secretive about simple facts like salary is beyond my comprehension. In all it was not a good experience.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at U.S. Financial Technology (Bethesda, MD) in Dec 2017
Interview
My application included an internal referral. After checking back with my contact after a few weeks the recruiter finally reached out by saying she had sent me several emails. Not true, but let's move on. The position was more junior than my previous role but I was confident it had good potential so I was fine with that. We discussed this point and agreed to proceed. I had a solid call with the hiring manager and was invited to come in for a series of interviews. Those all went well and on the way out the recruiter told me I should hear from her in a day or so.
Two days later she emailed me to tell me the feedback was very positive, they were finalizing things on their end and was there a time that afternoon we could touch base. Despite following up several times I heard nothing for 2 and a half weeks (to be fair, one was Christmas week) tellling me that based on the feedback they wouldn't be proceeding with this role, however they thought I was a good fit for the organization and I would be considered for the other roles I applied to. That was over 3 weeks ago and I've recieved one email since that feedback from a hiring manager should be available that afternoon. That was over a week ago.
I know CSS is in hyper growth mode but its disconcerting to leave things hanging.
