I’m a previous employee. I was with them a few years in follow up. I just applied for an insurance verification position, which I’m more than qualified for the position. The person who contacted me for the pre-interview was very rude and dismissive. Throughout the call, she insinuated I may not have been qualified for the position, even though my resume reflected years of experience. I corrected her, advising my experience in obtaining retro authorizations for procedures/drugs in a hospital setting. She disregarded me and reluctantly said, she’d bring me in for an interview with the peer team. She started explaining the process and said she didn’t know if I was aware. I advised, I was as I was a part of the peer interview team. She completely ignored me and talked over me. The call ended with me declining the interview and hanging up. After the call, I realized why she was so rude. She may have remembered me from when I was previously employed. That is not how one must conduct themselves when speaking with potential employees. She was in no way demonstrating their Core Values. I’m no longer interested in employment at UPMC.
