I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Uber (San Francisco, CA) in Aug 2015
Interview
I started with a phone screening, a phone interview with the manager and a couple of potential coworkers, and went in for an in-person interview with 8 people (one being the bar raiser).
The first part of the interview was a 45-minute portfolio review, where I am able to present my work to a group of designers and copywriters / content strategists. During this time, the group asked questions about what kind of product/UX content I've done in the past and to show examples of my work.
Next, I had back-to-back interviews with the design manager, copywriters/content strategists, the bar raiser, and the product manager.
After I was finished, I was escorted out of the building. They were pretty quick with their decision.
After tons of prep, the interview went nowhere. It would be nice of them to specify in their job listings which positions require you to live in a specific metro area. Surely, in this time when so many are in search of home-based work, applicants from all over the country are applying. It's a waste of the applicant's time and the recruiter's too. Make it plan and put the required location in the job description.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Uber (New York, NY) in Jun 2021
Interview
Highly competent and communicative HR made interview process a breeze. There were quite a few steps, but it wasn't that long of a process (time-wise) because HR scheduled interviews quickly and close in proximity.
1) Screener with Recruiter
2) Interview with Hiring Manager(s)
3) Creative Project and Multiple-Choice Assessment (you have to demonstrate your UX / UI foundational knowledge and off-the-fly creative skills)
4) Panel Interview with Hiring Manager + Team. A mix of technical / job-related questions and behavioral questions.

Question 1

Tell us about your Creative Project. Why did you make this decision? Why didn't you do ____ instead?
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 8+ months. I interviewed at Uber (São Paulo, São Paulo)
