I applied online after seeing a post on LinkedIn. Then I researched and found a recruiter, which. I sent a message to. I took a while, but eventually she responded.
The recruiter screen was pretty bad. It felt like she couldn't give 2 Fs talking to me. I soon found out why. She was on her way out.
After that, I spoke with the hiring manager. He was really nice and cool.
After that was a technical screen with a couple of engineers. We did a leetcode type question with a non-compiling text editor. Not great. I like to code a little, test a little. To see if what I'm doing is working. I don't agree with Google's style of interviewing in an environment that doesn't resemble the work environment. But hey, why use logic, right?
I only went through 3 of what I think would've been 4 or 5 rounds. I froze on the coding portion, and didn't pass it :-(
I'd say overall, it was a neutral experience. My experience with the recruiter, the face of the company, was negative. My experience with the folks I'd actually work with was positive. So I'd say it cancels out to neutral.
