Met with recruiter at HirePhiladelphia, which allows university alumnus to network and potentially apply for jobs.
Recruiter told me all about the company and I was highly impressed. Now, I did warn the recruiter that I'm a .Net guy and write code with C#, which recruiter replied that it's totally fine and I should go ahead and apply....I TOTALLY shouldn't of.
1 st - fill out an application
2 - company sends you HackRank assessment, which for a entry level is definitely not an easy task. I've spend solid 90 minutes solving the problems and did pass with 100%, but it was difficult for an entry guy like me.
3- I waited about 2 weeks and decided to follow up, because I felt like they simply forgot about me, and guess what? They DID! Luckily original recruiter passed my resume to HR for screening.
4- I've got an email stating that the HR wants to speak with me....After a few days I've got in touch with HR and oh my what an experience. I've been in a professional world for over 6-7 years and seen what screening or interview is like, but this one topped most of them, and not in a good way. HR did not have any motivation to speak with me, I had to force HR to ask me questions about myself and past experience, it was extremely awkward and I felt terrible, because I was so motivated and so happy to potentially work for the organization, yet I felt like my time was not valued at all, plus HR did not speak as professional as I expect any large organization. HR had no energy, it felt like HR wanted me to hang up the phone and just never call them. Very unwelcoming, 0 energy , and I had to pull questions from HR . I was highly disappointing... the best way to describe it is..COLD interview.
