Interview
My resume was submitted through a recruiter while I was unemployed in November of 2017. The recruiter has been completely professional during the process and had updated me about being considered for a position that was "potentially" opening with this agency. Around 3 months later, the recruiter told me the position had been closed. I was contacted again later and told that the position was opened again and whether I still would like to be considered. I was employed at this time but I was still interested in having a conversation if there was mutual interest. Another long period of time passes and I am finally told as of August 2018 that the position was closed (they are going with an internal person). At this point, I am certain that this company is not interested in my background, BUT I hear back one week later that they would like to interview me. I understand that this happens, but my expectations are rather diminished at this point because I believe that someone else has turned down the role or there is quite a lack of organization/direction on their side. So far, I have waited about 10 months, and they insist that I interview with them in the next two days. I find out the interview is at a hotel on Ford campus which is odd considering the office supposedly in use by the agency is right across the street. Interviewer tells me he has been in interviews all day and asks me questions which suggest to me he may not have read my resume. Because my interviewer does not seem all that prepared or interested in my background, I used the time to ask about the project and the company culture. I get more tidbits that lead me to believe that the working environment could be a bit chaotic, which I personally do not enjoy. Although I appreciated the interview, I felt the time was a bit underutilized and the interviewer a bit lacking in presence/purpose considering the drawn out waiting period.
