      Average interview

      Application

      I interviewed at Zynga

      Interview

Initial call was set up with the coordinator. Recruiter was late to the call, no emails from recruiter or coordinator. Reached out to the coordinator, no answer from her. Recruiter called an hour after the initial call time was set up.

      Question 1

Tell me about yourself. What do you know about the company?

      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Zynga (San Francisco, CA) in Apr 2012

      Interview

Zynga's recruiter reached out to me for a recruiter role, and the process played out over three days consisting of: a phone screen (~30 minutes), two 1:1 onsite interviews the following day (~30 minutes each), and a three 30-minute 1:1 interviews on the third day. All interviews were fairly standard assessments: a review of my resume, behavioral scenarios (tell me about a time when...., what about if 'x' happens...). After a positive start, I ended up finding the process wanting: one interviewer was interrupted by--and responded to--multiple phone calls, another interview consisted of a recruiting coordinator setting my expectations regarding what support he would/would not be able to provide for me. In addition he felt compelled to remind me (repeatedly) of just how fast-paced Zynga is, mentioning 10 minutes into the interview that an hour into the day, his day had "already gone to [profanity]..." This, by the way, was one of multiple times he ended cursing during his interview with me. There was a break in the interview schedule prior to my final interview. Unfortunately, what was slated to be a 15-20 minute break instead turned into an hour of me cooling my heels, with the senior hiring manager providing the most perfunctory of apologies. The following afternoon, the recruiter who initially made contact called to let me know that they were moving ahead with a candidate with more directly-relevant experience. Perhaps that is true, perhaps it was more a question of cultural fit. One never really knows--although I do know that I wasn’t disappointed with the outcome.
