I applied online and received an invite to interview the following week.
My experience seems to mirror others in that I had been ghosted on. But this is not necessarily a recruiter issue...
As a General Manager and executive who has controlled budgets and, accordingly, headcount and hiring in a high-growth environment, I can tell you that scaling out the talent acquisition function amid high volume is easy to do. This could be done through temps + contractors, agency recruiters and/or through a reallocation of related tasks to hiring managers, junior members of the team, etc.
That said, if this ghosting phenomenon is in fact recurrent, as it seems, this may signal a problem of executive leadership. If they're oblivious to the issue, that's pretty damning. If they're privy to the issue but fail to allocate appropriate resources, that's telling. I wouldn't want to work among such executives. All this may be an indicator of managerial malpractice; alternatively, perhaps they simply lack the financial wherewithal.
