      Associate Platform Engineer Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at the LEGO Group in Jul 2024

      Interview

My interview process for the new role consisted of three rounds, each designed to assess different aspects of my fit for the position and the team. The first round was a 30-minute conversation with an HR representative. This was a relaxed and informal discussion, focused on getting to know me better. We talked about my background, my experiences, and my aspirations for the future. The HR representative was particularly interested in understanding my career goals and how they aligned with the company's values and growth trajectory. It was a great opportunity for me to share my passion for the field and explain how I envision my career evolving over the next few years. The second round was with my prospective project manager, a senior developer, and a future team lead to whom I would report. This interview wasn't heavily technical; instead, it revolved around hypothetical scenarios that could arise during the workday. The focus was on understanding how I would approach and resolve potential issues, particularly interpersonal conflicts among colleagues. They were keen on gauging my problem-solving approach, my ability to mediate conflicts, and my expectations for the working relationship between myself, my colleagues, and management. We discussed various strategies for team collaboration and how we could collectively work towards achieving the company's objectives. For the third and final round, I was given a task to prepare before the interview. This involved creating a project or presentation that I had to submit in advance. During the interview, I presented my work and explained my thought process and decisions. I covered most of the required topics—about 80%—and we discussed in detail what I had accomplished. They asked questions not only about what I did but also about the areas I hadn't covered. I was able to articulate my reasoning for the choices I made and how I would address the remaining aspects if given more time. This final round was crucial in demonstrating my practical skills and my ability to think critically and adapt to feedback. Overall, the interview process was comprehensive, designed to assess both my technical and interpersonal skills, as well as my ability to align with the team and the company's goals.
