Fusion-io has a data storage solution that boggles the mind. Its proprietary ioMemory offers more than 100 times the density of DRAM and allows users to use significantly fewer servers and handle more data. ioMemory, a form of flash memory, allows for more efficient data processing since it can replace a computer's hard drive, eliminating the need for power-draining server rooms and associated cooling and infrastructure costs. The company's ioMemory Virtual Storage Layer software connects operating systems and flash memory in its ioDrive products. It counts Facebook, HP, Dell, and IBM among its customers. Fusion-io was formed in 2005, and the company went public in 2011.
