Decent place to work! - Systems Engineer Fusion-io Employee Review

Pros

The company tries hard to make the work environment enjoyable with things like free lunch every day (assuming you aren't a field employee). The technology market space we are in is a hot, so there is lots of excitement and Fusion-io is well known in that space. Most of the people you work with are really nice people.

Cons

Many of the benefits that are so cool at corporate are not available to field employees. Product direction and focus had been very lacking, but it seems like the new management is shaking that up, we'll see if it changes anything. Many too many outside "experts" and VPs seem to be getting hired and not enough workers, and due to these outside "Experts" career paths for insiders seem limited.

Pros

The benefits package they provide (healthcare, bonuses, stock, free lunches, etc.) is really nice. Depending on your team, the people you work with can be awesome. The work /industry can be exciting. If you thrive on hard work, this is a great place to be. In the past, people were "jealous" of my job when I told them what my job/work environment was like.

Cons

I came to this company when it was still a start-up and culture has changed A LOT. We used to be a team, all in it together trying to bring our incredible technology to the world. Now, politics abound in middle-management and leadership pretty much stays in their "ivory towers". It does not feel like a team here anymore. Additionally, people will sometimes do weeks and weeks of hard work, going the extra mile multiple times without so much as a thank you or an acknowledgment (from management) for their hard work. We don't need prizes or rewards so much, just gratitude for our efforts.
