Pros

You can make a lot of money if you grind. Good work environment if you network and suck up to the right people.

Cons

It's managements way or the highway. Disagreeing with management on anything is political suicide. No flexibility to work from home, ever. You will get micromanaged. Unrealistic goals. We claim to be a technology company but don't embrace technology. Bad benefits. Extremely stressful. Most employees aren't happy. Thinking outside of the box is discouraged, things are done the AIM way or not at all.

Pros

In the office (if you end up working at the office rather than at a client's office) everyone is extremely nice. Especially MTARs, whose job it essentially is, to be nice.

Cons

-Low pay in terms of market value in the area -terrible benefits -dishonest leadership and hiring practices (promising bonuses and benefits that were rescinded/never delivered upon) -FTEs are prevented from joining another company -Nearly zero sick leave, extremely little vacation -Most accruals (401k, vacation, etc.) don't kick in until you've been there for a year - which is unlikely to happen. -Managers often expect far more work than is reasonable, and don't understand the development process. -Managing and balancing up to 3-5 time sheets at a time (all of which must agree). -Does not even have licenses for the software they support and develop on -zero upward mobility -nearly zero chance of a reasonable wage increase

AIM Consulting Group, LLC Response

This is Bill VanSickle, CEO and Co-Founder of AIM Consulting. I wanted to reply to you directly to personally apologize for your experience at AIM, let you know that we take posts like yours very seriously, and ask you for more information that I can take action on. We’ve built an honorable and good company full of people that care about AIM, their co-workers, and our clients. I personally oversee our compensation and benefits programs and know that we have one of the very best benefit packages in our industry. We must not have done a good job in helping you understand our compensation, bonus, and benefits program. I’d really appreciate the opportunity to sit down with you and explain the 2015 plans available to you, show you the benchmark detail we have that compares our programs with our competitors, and give you a preview of the 2016 comp and benefits plan that we are rolling out on our benefits anniversary (4/1/16). Your comment about a lack of integrity cuts to the heart of our core covenants and culture and I would appreciate you telling me exactly what promises or commitments we didn’t deliver on. Integrity is a way of life with AIM and it is non-negotiable. Violating this tenant would lead to disciplinary action, up to and including termination and I hope you will honor me by sharing more about your experience so that I can take action where needed. With respect to upward mobility, we must not have communicated the growth opportunities that are literally everywhere at AIM. Our people ARE our most important asset and we pride ourselves on being able to help our employees achieve significant growth from a personal development, financial, and organizational perspective. We have grown over 70% in 2015 and our only bottleneck to future growth is identifying capable and focused leaders to help facilitate that growth. Regardless of all that I believe to be true, I want to reiterate that I am personally disappointed by your experience and beliefs about AIM and hope you give us a chance to make it right for you and others that come into our business in the future. Please contact me at bvansickle@aimconsulting.com. Sincerely, Bill VanSickle

Pros

Because it’s a growing company, employees are present for the evolution and maturity regarding AIM’s client work. It’s a great learning experience for more junior talent.

Cons

AIM is historically a staffing company. They’ve attempted to focus in recent years on strategic consulting instead, but they’re truly still staffing at their core. Even projects that are sold as highly strategic aren’t approached as they should be - contract consultants are chosen blindly and quickly, clear expectations are never set for teams, and every engagement is managed arbitrarily based on the direction of one person on each team (instead of following unified company strategies). AIM recreates the wheel on every engagement and their clients see it. More so, because the staffing mindset it still extremely prevalent, even the most strategic, brightest consultants are treated as commodities who are only measured by their chargeability metrics. While the guise of “being able to help shape a growing company” is used when recruiting talent, the expectations AIM has for consultants is very clear once you’re in the door: stay billable, keep your head down, and don’t ruffle feathers. At the end of the day, this is a sales organization, not a consultancy, and it’s felt throughout the entire company.
