You’ve Been Warned (NA Commercial Team)

Pros

There once was a lot of pros such a family culture, entrepreneurial spirit and strong team collaboration. Unfortunately, that is all gone. The former CEO and his NA minion have destroyed the culture. The employee turnover has been horrendous. For example, the HR group no longer exists. The lone guy left is a talent recruiter not an HR professional.

Cons

The NA commercial team has had nearly 200% turnover in the last three years. The NA minion always has to have someone in the doghouse at all times. The minion will either destroy the person’s job or destroy the person. He is very old school and tries to use fear and intimidation to manage the team. There is also a lack of integrity as well. Forcing a partner to carry 2.5 times the typical amount of inventory in order to meet last year’s sales number is very very bad for business. There is no way to show growth in 2018 and this is not going to make the private equity owners happy. Take my warning and stay clear of this company and the NA Commercial Team.

Pros

People do care about the day-to-day. The company is like a big family, and ownership is significant.

Cons

Top Management is treating employees like commodities that are only to serve their pleasure. Sadly, decisions are not made based on risk assessments or actual research, but just on goals that are imposed in a commanding fashion.

AVOID THIS COMPANY

Pros

When ANGUS first split from Dow it was like a start-up company, very entrepreneurial and a very fun place to work. And there was a lot of work. However, most of the folks who did the heavy lifting of the transition have been rewarded with severance.

Cons

Most on the management team are not ready for prime time. They have little fortitude and even less integrity. They vastly over promised growth to their new private equity owners. The private equity owners have started to clean house, letting more than 10 percent of the workforce in the US go in November 2017. This, in my opinion and speculation, is so 2018 will be a lean and clean year and the company could very well likely be up for sale again in 2019 as it has not delivered what the private equity guys were promised. The rollercoaster culture is very likely to continue for some time.
