Ups and downs but Plated continues to pay off

Pros

- Plated has an incredible culture. We champion each other and have a lot of fun together. Great events and food perks. - I've been at the company for a few years and have seen some ups and downs. It's not always the best but we seem to address the biggest issues eventually. - There are some very salty former employees posting very negative reviews. All I can say is, reader beware. People are often former employees for VERY good reasons.

Cons

- Because Plated is still a young company, we're still getting around to implementing a lot of the policies and processes that we really need. - We haven't always been the best at coaching people who aren't raising the bar because we haven't either had enough managers, or given managers enough time to manage. This is changing though. - Because we've been under resourced for so long, we work pretty long hours. Not everyone does, but you do if you're one of the people who gives a darn about contributing. Work/life balance could be better.

Pros

As long as you can put up with the poor leadership, stress, toxic culture, lack of concern about your career path, disrespect from HR, and lack of compensation for any significant contributions you can keep your job as long as you like.

Cons

I think I pretty much covered that. To expand slightly, fairly soon after I started a new digital leader was brought in. Every initiative became an A-1 red-hot top priority, and there was nothing but fire drills no matter how hare-brained the scheme was. The approach seemed to be throw everything at the wall and see what sticks, no matter how much dysfunction/toxicity/pain it created. Everyone runs around at Mach 10 with their hair on fire... and then leadership is surprised with the number of employee turnovers. One-by-one my entire team left, I was the last to go, and I hung on way to long; I'm still recovering from the stress and toxicity. If you desperately need a job then grab it, otherwise avoid like the plague. I will say that there are some awesome people who get things done no matter how bad the shelling is on the front lines. All of the good folk I used to work with deserve better... way better. Oh well. They only seem to be open to learning the hard way... So go ahead, learn the hard way.

Pros

friendly and bright people company is actively hiring tries to be socially engaging tempts you with salary in beginning

Cons

-the product is a mess and upper management changes their minds constantly without transparency across the board -seniority is represented by how many years you've been at the company over level of competency and can be frustrating -company restructuring happens frequently and information is often with-held from employees based on convenience -upper management acts like they care but will readily throw you under the bus if necessary to keep themselves intact, even if it means being contradictory and dishonest -there's no room for employee growth whatsoever, so consider that when recruitment entices you with a nice salary range -the benefits aren't as swanky as it sounds - there's no 401k matching and the breakfast is mostly fruit and bread. health benefits are mediocre and stipend has limitations and less than most companies of that size

Albertsons Companies Response

Thank you for your comments. Employee satisfaction is imperative here at Plated and all feedback is taken very seriously. We are sorry that you had an unpleasant experience working with us. Our latest employee survey data indicates that our managers care about their employees growth and that our leaders are transparent about our company's metrics. We would welcome any advice on how to prepare a "swankier", free, daily breakfast for 200 employees and are open to hearing about how to improve our benefits offering. The feedback from our employees has been extremely positive regarding our medical, dental, & vision insurance offerings, a free Plated box every week ($2,500 worth of delicious food), a generous annual education stipend, our unlimited vacation policy, and our dog friendly office space. We would welcome any additional feedback that may help us improve our employee experience. After all, our employees are what make us great. Thank you!
