On Feb. 16, our country celebrates Innovation Day to honor those who paved the way and continue to inspire creativity today.
An innovator develops new methods, ideas or products. They are visionaries who create lasting, impactful change.
Our founder, George Jenkins, was an innovator.
All innovators started somewhere, and when the 1st Publix store opened in 1930, he was already looking ahead to discover new ways to enhance his store. Mr. George, as we call him, sought to elevate the grocery store experience for all shoppers in his stores by adding innovations like air conditioning, electric-eye doors and frozen food cases.
It’s been over 90 years, and we still believe in innovating the customer experience and investing in the ideas of our associates.
