Pros

Co-workers committed to producing quality events and to client satisfaction, amazing team of highly-professional techs and designers, decent if not exactly competitive pay, opportunity to be creative, chance to work hard at work worth doing

Cons

Not BBB accredited for very good reasons, looks to squeeze money back out of employees (we're talking using any excuse to not reimburse you [their version of a per diem] fully, even if you stay well under budget), will take advantage of every conceivable loophole to not pay you for your time. Worst of all is that for all it has to offer, the founder and president is a toxic person who would rather believe that the reason the company has trouble doing business in town is because of secret mafioso activity than acknowledge people are willing to pay more for less if it means not dealing with his foul attitude. Thinks he is better than everyone (will make a fool of himself in front of others, to come up with some rationalization as to why him not getting his way is because you are stupid, unqualified, or just don't care about doing the job), manages to sound condescending of the clients all while lecturing about "white-glove" service and the mean of a servant. It's only infuriating because it's non-stop, otherwise it would just be sad. The tragedy of it all is that he has it in him to be the kind of boss people would walk into fire for if he would just grow up and get over himself, or if the rest of the management team would quit being spineless enablers. Sure, it's easier to make excuses and claim some always-vague progress has been made, but it comes down to being either too afraid or too uncaring of your co-worker's well-being.

Pros

-Industry is interesting -Staff itself is great -You get to try a lot of things

Cons

It's true that Ted is a megalomaniac boss and no fun to work for. Treats employees badly, overworks them and doesn’t care for their well being. He is a narcissist and talks badly of others in the event industry while thinking he is some kind of genius but it’s not the case. Pay is pretty bad. As a sales staff I made $10 plus commission and the raises i did hear of were miniscule. Hopefully things have gotten better since ive been gone.

Pros

A handful of unique, quality props in inventory

Cons

Where do I begin.. I was hired as a Senior Sales Associate at Ampa and only stayed 6 months due to the micro management from both the owner & senior production staff. They have the highest turnover rate of any Event Industry company I have known. Every event I worked on was a battle internally and I was constantly being told why the customers requests could not be filled, why typical design ideas could not be executed or why prices would increase after design ideas had already been sold. Instead of trouble shooting and brainstorming to overcome design problems the answer was always "no". I can't blame the staff, they are extremely overworked, underpaid and under appreciated. I was warned about the misogynistic, disrespectful culture at Ampa but chose to take a gamble anyway. It was all true and I left to save my reputation within the Events Industry.
