Pros

There were a lot of pros, remote work, collaborative team, friendly culture. Over the years it went all belly up. Now it's all do or die scenario, See the cons.

Cons

From mid-2023, the company suddenly started changing into a hostile environment. So many tenured people were let go, not just in the middle or entry positions; but VPs and directors too. At the beginning of 2024 middle management also started playing unhealthy politics and backbiting. In the last year, I had 4 different supervisors and everytime the reporting manager changed, I felt like I was working at a whole new company. It took a mental toll on me to keep my team members motivated. And when I started expressing my concern on these lack of motivation, burnout and stress - they let me go. What a tactic!

Pros

Everyone whom I've met is extremely engaged and easy to work with. I feel empowered to make decisions and impact change in the organization. I was given a lot of information about the company that gives me more empathy for the homeowners and pros that we service, and I feel like I understand enough about the business to make meaningful decisions. Management has high expectations of their employees, but from what I can see, they also take care of and invest in their employees. As a result, people work hard, but they are happy, and this results in a pleasant, but challenging, work environment. I feel like this provides me a good opportunity for career growth, while still being able to maintain a good work/life balance.

Cons

I do feel like access to internal systems at the company is overly restrictive without much security benefit (like ability to edit Slack user groups without engaging with IT). I also feel like onboarding is challenging due to the amount of legacy systems, as well as a lack of automated system access to new hires (for example, all engineers should have access to internal repositories but the managers have to request it individually). However, I'd say these problems are typical of most larger organizations and are solvable with enough investment.
