Pros
Decent pay scale, paid time off, paid holidays, etc. Union plant, so even unmotivated employees are kept around unless they make several major screw-ups or have really bad attendance. Promotions within factory are strictly seniority-based, whether you work to earn them them or not. During normal-busy seasons, pretty much sign up for as much overtime work (at 1.5X your hourly wage) as you want.
Cons
Catalog/retail printing industry is dying, so no real future at this company. I've been there almost 10 years, and although we always have our "slow" season, I've never seen the plant THIS low on customer work orders. Several major clients have turned to online advertising and dropped their print campaigns completely over the past year or two. Union plant, so every 4-ish years is gnawing uncertainty and stress as negotiations for new/continuing work contracts are dragged out for months if not a year or more. Plant promotions take forever because all move-ups are based on seniority, not merit. During busy season if not enough people volunteer for overtime, company can force you to come in and work it. Doesn't matter if you have second job, home responsibilities, etc.
