Pros

Opportunity to earn… as long as your boss allows you to. People are very fun to hang with. Generally professional work environment.

Cons

Unfortunately, I drank the Kool-Aid and accepted the position at Aston Carter. They are *dying* for people to work for them. They are very desperate. Do you have a heartbeat? They’ll hire you. I should’ve realized this during my interview process. You will be told that commission is uncapped and you’re free to earn. But this was a lie. I was told that I’d come in earning commission, but instead, my “spread” was divvied up amongst other recruiters and account managers who were more senior within Aston Carter. Because I thought I was earning my own money, I worked hard hours over the weekend, late at night, etc. I placed a many, many candidates in several short weeks, and instead of seeing that commission, I was forced to give it away to other recruiters/AMs. That’s when I knew I’d have to step away from the company, unfortunately. Luckily, I found a job more than double my insultingly low base salary and left. You’ll be told you can make six figures… but how long will that take? How much work will you do for free?

Pros

The job was work from home.

Cons

Everything they told me about the job was a lie. First they forgot to schedule me for vetting so my start date that they had given me was delayed by a week. They also had told the client I worked for it was my fault. They praised the job and told me that everyone would like the job and had great opportunities at this client of theirs. As per contract there was NO PAID TIME OFF, even the HOLIDAYS were UNPAID, so in you would only have 4 paid days in a week with a holiday. The working hours were horrible and you had to get up at 4.30AM! Pay was promised to go up after 6 months of training and the benefits and time off would be suppossedly great when then hired by the client. ( This was also a lie. The pay does not go up and the client provides only 5! DAYS of paid time off. This was not only a very high stress job for $19.50 an hour, furthermore the training was unorganized, ambiguous and the worst I ever had. I quit after a few weeks. Some other people quit even earlier. The most horrible job I've ever had.

Pros

Very hard to find any pros here. I only went through AC because my friend had a 4 month assignment for me and this is the company they used. They will give you a big book of benefits, but they don't mention that in Massachusetts you actually accrue sick time, which is the only benefit most people will want/use.

Cons

This company does not operate within normal ethical standards. I found out that I was owed 2 days of sick time and they did not want to pay me. I ended up taking only 1 day before my assignment ended on March 13th. It is now April 13t and I sill have not been paid. Also, they pay you your last pay check on a debit card? What company operates this way. I have filed a complaint with the Attorney General of MA and hope to hear back soon. I hope they do an audit of them because I'm sure there are plenty of other people like me that were never told of accrued sick time. This company should not be allowed to operate in MA.
