Pros

- Open gym atmosphere for follow ups, usually private treatment rooms for initial evals - Most of the PT's are pretty cool (first and second hand report). Fun to work with and it's a generally good, fun environment. But if your coworkers suck, there is really no avoiding them. - Medbridge access which is great - includes HEP programs and CEU courses

Cons

- All they care about is productivity, even if that means borderline fraud and overbilling. They have explicitly said to me they want to see all patients on average of 1 hour per session, 13 visits total, and 2-3x/week. Maybe they only need 5 sessions for 40 minutes each? Doesn't matter. - They treat their PT's like crap. Recently during the extreme cold in Chicago they FORCED PT's company wide to use their PTO and take the day off and squeezed patients into rest of the week to save money. That's BS. - It's a sinking ship. The company is not financially thriving. Cancelled the christmas party. Cut aide hours. Aggressively expanding clinics to offset overhead costs, increasing revenue at the "ground level" or at the PT clinics (main revenue stream). - You will work extra for no overtime. - Very average pay - likely 65-70k for a new grad.

Pros

- Great people with lots of talent within the clinic setting - A slew of specialties, so there's something for just about everybody - Nice client population - Lots of continuing education opportunities

Cons

- Incompetent managers, from the clinical level to regionals (and probably up to the top) - I do not speak about all the managers, but the ones I encounter on the regular basis have no business managing (many are Kaufman's goons). They lack leadership and garner little respect from the rank and file employees (or us insubordinates). On the plus side, if you can breath, are blind to actually believe what upper management tells you, and preach the AthletiCo propaganda, you can become a manager. - Very poor pay - Terrible support staff at the corporate office (again, there are some good employees at the home office). They tend to have very cush jobs, and have no clue on how to get things done promptly. AthletiCo really does need to test reading comprehension and reasoning (aka common sense) of their corporate employees. - Promotion of questionable and shady billing practices (borderline MC fraud)

Pros

Continuing patient education. Not much else.

Cons

You're a workhouse. Poorly compensated. No time to document when giving good care. Lack of aides/support staff. Hard to take PTO. Poor documentation software. Managers have verbally told me what to bill, how long to keep patients.... definitely not ethical. Bonus system is flawed. Employees not valued. No end of year holiday party like they used to. It's all about numbers, not patient satisfaction. They don't care about Burnout because they will replace you with another innocent new grad. Forced to do extra Saturday shifts or work events without extra pay!
