Pros

The RBTs were amazing to work with! Pay was fair, and I really enjoyed working with the clients!!!!

Cons

The only complaint I have about this company is discrimination and management. I first want to start off by saying that I am a former employee and I am diagnosed with autism. (Asperger’s Syndrome to be exact. I have documentation and an IEP to prove it.) I am a very emotional, but also logical person, and there was a conflict of interest that I didn’t know about that was eventually observed by me. I went to management to discuss this concern I had (because I didn’t want this to reflect my work performance or hers as well) and the labeled me as “mentally unstable.” In other words, I was forced to go through an EAP, and they tried to make me take an FMLA. (I have financial hardships and that just wasn’t feasible at that moment.) They also told me to “give it more time” and as time went on, things got worse. I feel discriminated because I had a concern and they didn’t take my side seriously. The other RBT was not interviewed and still works there as of currently. One of the BCBAs hates my guts and made that known to me on my last day. This company is not bad overall; I am not saying that!! I would just be careful who you talk to/confide in and watch out for repetitive word usage.

Pros

Watching these children grow and learn every day.

Cons

In center- No consequences for co workers who are calling out all of the time or just flat out not doing their jobs. Seems a lot of upper staff members sit in their offices often and have no idea how often some therapist spend doing things off task to therapy or kids in reinforcement time. When you bring things to supervisors attention you’re either blown off or told “we aren’t seeing it”. A lot of tension in the workplace and the more reliable staff are usually given extra work no matter pay or job title. The pay system is a joke and completely unfair - does not go off work performance whatsoever. People will get “promoted” for simply how long they’ve worked there no matter the quality of work or knowledge. Company- LEARN recently bought out BACA and it’s been a nightmare since. Pay stubs constantly messed up, constantly changing things with the center, hiring anyone and everyone and took away many benefits (paid holidays, maternity leave). Gave lots of promises when buying out company that have yet to be kept.

Pros

Learn a lot from the BCBAs The kids are SO much fun

Cons

Lack of growth for RBTs and even the lead techs (training specialists) Lack of respect from all superiors Bought out by a provider-has changed the center completely; makes this harder for employees to find resources through the company and superiors within the center are usually unsure of where to find these resources NO paid holidays, unless you use YOUR PTO. This includes call-ins and doctor's appointments They expect you to work at home by attending zoom meetings after the work day (you get paid, but it's irritating to get home and have to log into a zoom call that could've been an email) Not enough pay for the amount of work expected of the technicians Schedule is never the same, staff are thrown around constantly and are just told to deal with it Even when I spoke up, I never got the support that I needed. Instead I got lectured and recommended to take a leave of absence. Create boundaries with BACA if you decide to work here. They will take advantage of you, your kindness, your flexibility, any ounce of empathy. They will walk all over you.
