Pros

- Snacks and drinks when in the office - Depending on your manager, hours of work can be flexible - Free Yoga on Tuesdays - Office location is nice, lots of sidewalks and local restaurants - WFH is currently available due to pandemic (future policy unclear)

Cons

- Overall culture has sharply declined since the JMI investment in 2020. This was a fun, locally grown and intimate company, now it's cold, stuffy and very corporate feeling. -Goals and quotas that were influenced by JMIs consultants are simply unattainable. Have heard that marketing is now a call center and employees in that department are being extremely micromanaged. Every call must be recorded, only send approved emails, and there are many random zoom calls to “check in”. - Bloomerang used to be a workplace where suggestions and opinions were valued and respected. The CEO continuously asks for honest feedback, but I don't think it is truly welcomed. The standard response now (from several managers) is one that encourages employees to keep their thoughts to themselves and don't ask questions. I've heard managers make inadvertent employment threats for challenging the status quo. -While the PTO allotment isn’t bad, employees are discouraged to take long vacations for fear of missing quota and being put on performance review. - Bloomerang loves to market itself as a diverse workspace, but there are no people of color in my department or within the C-level staff. Leadership is all white, and majority male. - Bloomerang does not prioritize the career growth of long time employees. New promotions and opportunities are highly trending in favor of external candidates or employees of the recently acquired company. Female candidates are also considered second tier, from what I've seen.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review and give us your feedback. We’ve experienced incredible growth in the past year and we know that has felt tumultuous at times. However, this growth and development is also what allowed us to promote 45% of our employee population last year and invest in PD like leadership development training and manager training cohorts. One of our main focuses for 2022 is equipping our managers with the tools they need to lead effectively, and we genuinely feel we are developing a team of world-class leaders! - People Team @ Bloomerang

Pros

Health insurance is decent Middle management is good Work/life balance is good for certain departments Avenues to stay engaged while working remotely IT team is great

Cons

Burn out is real. I have yet to talk to someone that has been there more than 2 years that still feels passionately about their job. Middle management seems stuck between a rock and a hard place with helping employees grow while still producing results so they won't get in trouble. Arbitrary deadlines are placed on employees without input from the employees actually doing the ground work. Feedback from lower level employees is ignored. I've seen the company go through many changes through out the years, but the one thing that always stuck was upper management listening to all employees and addressing feedback/implementing changes. That's gone, it's more of a "shut up or get out" era now. As a result, many employees have left, taking their institutional knowledge with them. Not sure what's going on with the new CEO but it's baffling. Monopolized a women's day talk, called employees his "children", navigated a talk about discrimination in a bizarre way that placed a lot of blame on employees somehow, and it goes on. Seems to speak from a very very privileged place

Pros

Working with great people. Working with non-profits. Decent benefits with decent PTO

Cons

Unless you are a selective few, the pay is dismissal. You're fighting at review time for increases of pennies. The gaslighting on this subject is strong. In a company slack channel, a healthy discussion around 4 day work weeks and sharing recent data was shut down by guilt and gaslighting and being told to stop looking inward and focus on our customers, by someone who has a salary of 400-500k. Any feedback about anything negative happening here is quickly shut down. High turnover in leadership makes it hard to feel stable. Feature farming and not fixing existing issues. it's starting to not stand out and you can have all these problems somewhere else but get paid more.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We always use market data to inform our decisions regarding pay. We'd love to talk about this more in-depth if you're interested. Additionally, we take employee feedback very seriously-- the entire ELT reviews and discusses each piece they receive. We hope you know that your feedback is valuable to us and is always taken into account.
