Pros

- Unlimited PTO, that's about it except you're so understaffed you can't use PTO more than 2-3 days at a time

Cons

- Expect startup-level intensity without the compensation, vision, or resourcing to match. - Teams are extremely lean, which creates constant pressure, oftentimes doing the roles of 2-3 jobs - Compensation tends to fall behind the market over time due to below-market pay and the lack of refreshers. - The culture has also shifted significantly under newer leadership. What once felt values-driven now feels heavily focused on short-term business outcomes, with a noticeable culture of blame when performance misses expectations. - Poor product leadership contributes to a reactive environment where priorities change often and pressure consistently rolls downhill onto frontline employees without support or alignment - Lots of long-time Boxers have left due to these shifts in the company over the past few years

Sinking Ship Pulled Down by Leadership

Pros

- HR hires quality people - Good culture - Unlimited PTO - ESPP

Cons

No product vision, strategy, and failure to execute. Depending the day of the day of the week and the leader you're speaking to Box is a "different kind" of company, all of which ignore the core purchase reasons of the existing and future customer base. Leadership expects company to turn on a dime based on the day's whim. - Product decline and instability: Newest features are weak, buggy, and never fixed. Critical customer requests to support highest value use cases are ignored - Operational dumpster fire. No role clarity, processes nor ownership. Things that should take minutes or hours take days and weeks if they get done at all. No one has any idea what anyone else is doing - Internal meeting, change, and resource organization fatigue - Micromanagement, and managers expect ICs to hold other teams "accountable" instead of managers aligning with each other - Lack of technical guidance and services for customers - Mediocre pay with little growth opportunity - No 401k match - RSUs don't gain value

Pros

- Relaxed work environment - Pace is slow, not a lot of urgency generally - Interesting technical problems when I joined, but given recent technology shifts this may no longer be the case - The pay to work ratio is good, even though you may be below market slightly

Cons

- Lack of career growth. The promotion process was difficult to navigate and the requirements were unclear - Restructuring and churn, every year I worked here I had a new manager -
