Pros

Benefits are pto are okay

Cons

Branch is incompetent. They are a fairly new insurance company that had high hopes but they are sinking at a fast rate. They do not have to funds to adequately pay out their claims which has caused them to drastically and dramatically change their underwriting guidelines. By doing so, this cancels policies for existing customers and no new business is offered for prospective customers. So what do you think is next?? .. today, 06/08/2023 all staff were reported to an impromptu meeting with the 2 CEOs, Steve Lekas and Joseph who let us know that branch was doing staff reductions, and we would be receiving an email letting us know if our role has been included in the reduction. Immediately, our systems and access began shutting down. They literally pulled the plug and kicked us out. No notice, no compassion. 0 stars. Would not recommend. Maybe if they had their priorities in line with their business, vs sending new hires to Ohio on an all expense trip including airfare, hotel, food, and all that comes with a trip, then just maybe they could’ve stayed a float. This business will not last. They will be shutting down soon. Over promise and under deliver is what they’ve done to their employees as well as customers. Go to a reputable insurance company that has proven themselves instead.

Branch Insurance Response

I want to thank you for sharing the experience you had with Branch and I deeply regret that it did not live up to the expectations we set for you. I submit my sincere apologies to you and your family. When you joined Branch, I did not imagine this would happen. But that it did, is on me. I am deeply sorry. From your post, it seems like you may have not received the details of the transition package we have offered which includes severance pay, health benefits continuation through August, career placement services with a dedicated coach, the ability to keep your laptop and tech package, extended exercise schedule for any vested options, and an invitation into the Brancher Alumni program where we are posting opportunities shared by friends of Branch. If you have not received it or have any questions about it please reach out to questions@ourbranch.com. As far as why this happened: a number of macroeconomic challenges have collided at once, causing significant challenges across the entire insurance landscape. Everyone from century-old carriers to newer companies like ours have faced these challenges. As we understood we would need to reduce the size of our team, we asked ourselves how we could do so in the most empathetic way possible, knowing that there really isn’t a great way to do this. We tried our very best and I’m sorry if we fell short. I don’t reply to change how you feel, but rather to offer up the rationale in the event it might help you process. As I wrote to you last week, I am available as a resource to you. If I can help you as you look for a new role please feel very free to reach out to me personally. Steve, CEO

Pros

- remote work - $1000 travel bonus or whatever - HSA - can meet some cool people (out of the ones that left)

Cons

So many: - very dishonest company - bloated numbers after being asked months about financial situation - very inexperienced leadership - after a HUGE LAYOFF still had branchfest which cost millions of dollars to fly out 300-400 employees - promotes people that doesn’t deserve it - company won’t be in business another 10 years - layed off so many people that they had to come back and hire from the same group that they payed off - I could write a book on how bad this company experience has been - BEWARE COMPANY DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE ROOTS THEY CLAIM THEY DO

One of the Biggest Disappointments of My Life

Pros

Amazing people, the facade of the culture is nice until you figure out it’s a facade, not all leadership is great but mine was. I was given the space to do the work, make mistakes, try new things, and I learned a ton.

Cons

The 40% layoff, out of nowhere. A surprise zoom meeting the morning of June 8, cameras off for the first time ever, and being told of were affected we will get an email in 15 min and only have a few minutes after that to get anything personal or work wise for a portfolio, etc. Being told by leadership that layoffs weren’t happening when in fact they were all secretly meeting for months devising this plan to uproot some of their most dedicated employees lives. In fact, the plan goes all the way back to hiring a very high up leader, who has actually responded to a lot of the reviews below that were begged for by employees left because we started saying the truth. They were hired back in November and seem to be a contract worker for a company. A cleaner of sorts perhaps? She manipulatively went around the company meeting everyone above agent status, I’m convinced, to determine their worth to the company. It would have been nice to know that since a lot of people who were let go were silent workers who did their work. The biggest con of all, being a yes person and taking on projects that don’t have a person or home and learning how to do 5 different job, does NOT MATTER in the grand scheme of things.
