Pros

I like who I work with and the patients I see at the center only.

Cons

Concentra upper management had a meeting where they discussed how they had low ratings on glassdoor so they asked management to go out themselves and direct others at the lower levels to come fill out only positive reviews so be careful reading reviews from this company. Management above center level tends to make unattainable goals that cannot be reached unless everything happens perfectly or you just push people through and hope they get better with basic skills. Corporate sells patient care and quality service to clients and public but really pushes its people in centers to focus on quantity and driving toward financial goals. The employees in center see people that come in as patients but corporate views them as numbers despite what they sale you in on.

Pros

A bi-weekly paycheck that covers the bills. Can put a director title on my resume.

Cons

This was hands-down the worst experience of my work life. The orange book values exist only in theory. They will promise you everything and keep nothing. They will work you to death and will not support you whatsoever. The clinics are chronically understaffed and run on unrealistic efficiency metrics that do not take the phones into account - you'll need one person to just answer the phone. You will not get any meaningful training and will be thrown into the cold water from day one. Lousy wages for MAs which affect the quality of personnel the clinics get to begin with. Insane turnover rates which leave clinic management working in the trenches doing MA and front desk duties, in addition to their own duties. Long days that will go unnoticed and unappreciated by area directors. Phones ring off the hook while you see 120+ patients a day. If I could turn back time, I'd skip this.

Pros

A chance to see what a work environment from the 90's was like.

Cons

Despite what company officials claim, if you are looking for purpose-driven work, if you are seeking a career with growth and future development, if you want a work-environment that supports your unique talents, if you want to be part of a company that welcomes diversity and inclusion, do not apply here. Concentra is a company that only looks out for its bottom line and does not care about developing its employees. It considers employee culture a box to be checked, not a philosophy. The only growth opportunities are available to clinicians in the field. If you work in any other position, you are likely stuck in that role. They claim to promote from within but are more apt to hire from the outside. Seventy percent of its leadership are new hires within the last three years, while tenured employees continue to be overlooked. Its programs and policies are outdated and don’t reflect the wants and needs of today’s workforce. They claim to want to have a world-class workforce, yet don’t offer the benefits and pay it takes to attract or retain the very best. They offer an employee survey only when they are positive they will receive good results. Leaders aren’t interested in true feedback nor do they act upon any negative feedback. Hard work and success in your job are not enough to move ahead at Concentra. It’s a good-ol’ boy network of favors and golf course deals that will get you ahead, and those opportunities are only open to the select few. Unless it makes money, the organization is not interested in any type of initiative that will improve the experience for employees, employers, or patients – even if it’s the right thing to do.
