Pros

Extensive areas of specialized medicine to stretch your knowledge. Some great technicians and some great doctors to work with and learn from. High starting out pay wages.

Cons

A lot of strong personalities that butt heads and management doesn’t do a thing about it. Heard something great at a conference or on a podcast and want to introduce that into your practice? Good luck. Everyone is too strong headed and stubborn to change their ways and adapt into new medicine practices. Price gouging is absolutely atrocious and they make “price adjustments” multiple times a year. The lack of care for mental health is saddening. The wage gap for long tenured technicians vs new hires is huge and no one addresses how underpaid some techs were and how uneven the pay scale was. Forced to work holidays no matter what department you’re hired into. The on-call shifts are dreadful as well, and expect to always be called in.

Pros

Some may know, but not everyone does that BluePearl is owned by Mars. Keep in mind though that Mars started as a family owned company and is still currently privately owned. Because of this larger ownership, BluePearl is able to offer its associates the tools and resources to grow their careers and become successful. All the tools are there, you just have to be willing to put in the work. They also offer a really great benefits package as well.

Cons

The PTO could be better as well as the 401K matching, but I've seem worse.

Pros

Well at least there's animals.

Cons

Where to begin. I mean, it's honestly just a dumpster fire of a company, but who's surprised there? This is corporate America at its finest. The front desk is the punching bag for everyone. Clients, techs, doctors, mgmt... if you work the front desk, expect to be treated like an imbecile. You will be talked down to, you will be screamed at, you will be sworn at. It's obviously your fault that the prices are so high, it's also your fault that Fluffy's owner called for an update. If you follow protocol, the clients/techs/drs will get angry at you for bothering them. If you don't follow protocol, management will get angry at you for breaking the rules. You're damned if you do, damned if you don't. The overworked technicians take out their frustrations on the front desk, but if you dare to throw it back at them, you'll be the one who gets in trouble. When a tech belittles your intelligence, you are expected to take it with a smile and ask for more. It's the kind of job that really makes the findings of the Stanford Prison Experiment come to life. Oh and the doctors? Well one of the surgeons used to fornicate with techs in the exam rooms, so naturally he's the head surgeon now. My advice to anyone looking to work here is this: don't. If you must, then just be aware that this location is a fine example of why the veterinary industry has the highest rates of suicide.
