Build.com is a very young minded company that tries to stay on the edge of technology, as well as public communication, so we can understand the feeling of it being considered a "college-like" environment.
In regards to getting rid of people who disagree, its not that they are fired or let go because of their beliefs are different, its the fact that we have standards and expectations to withhold so the company can keep growing. Every employee's opinion is considered if presented in the correct manner, and if it is not in the best interest of the company then it will be addressed as necessary.
Our CEO is a little eccentric in his ways of announcing his presents, but it is an attempt to keep the atmosphere of the company up beat and sales oriented. It is offensive to some, but we are metrics driven company and always strive to push the limits. Some times lines are crossed but That is how we learn and grown as a company. We make mistakes then learn from them.
