Pros
Really none to speak of.
Cons
Absolute disgusting working conditions. Terminals are falling apart and they do not repair anything. They are not only disgusting but also are In violation of osha requirements. They will fly you out to Michigan and spin very detailed stories of how they are changing the company , so on and so on.... it is all a very calculated and well articulated act to sell you on central. Once you get to your terminal, forget it... all that goes out the window. You are working in filth, unsafe conditions and generally just a glorified dock worker. Every single move you make is micromanaged for you from just a couple people in MI . You have absolutely no control over anything that happens at your terminal. When I say you cannot even make a simple decision to bring a driver in a half hour early, I mean it. You need to ask a specific person for that approval and depending on their mood, workload, or accessibility..... you may or may not get an answer. If that wasn’t bad enough, there are silos within MI and everyone is pulling in a different direction only concerned with their own agenda. The bad part is , they are all telling you to do something diffferent and you have no control to do anything. It is so counterintuitive it is maddening. The equipment is the worst in the industry and they expect you to make your drivers drive unsafe equipment. It takes months to get a simple repair done... just look at their federal CSA scores and you will know this is not an exaggeration. the bottom of the barrel. As bad as your current job is, do not make the jump. You will be extremely sorry. Not to mention they have something they call a “confidential upgrade”. .. that is when they are interviewing people for your job while you are still working there..... they may take a month or two to find someone and then the hatchet falls .. they will not have any discussions about improvements or anything for that matter . This did not happen to me, but did knew people it happened to when I was there..... I actually left on good terms but they are shady, The absolute worst move I made career-wise in 25 years.... I could go on and on but I think this is enough to convey the complete train wreck this company is...
