Pros
Good relaxed environment with good learning opportunities
Cons
Limited exposure to broader tech stack like multi-cloud
Pros
1) Well aligned executive team: The C-Suite work well together and present as a team to the greater organization, which contributes to building a collaborate culture. They are approachable and care about the success of each individual employee @ Certinia. Highly experienced, but still humble. 2) CRO is a hands-on, dynamic coach: It’s not uncommon to see him out on the sales floor engaging with his teams! He frequently makes trips globally, as well. His coaching skills are top notch and applicable to any professional looking to grow, not just sellers alone. He is appropriately involved in the day-to-day of his org and genuinely understands his teams. QBRs/coaching sessions/deal reviews are expertly run. He sets a positive example of how to lead with intention, give/receive feedback, and align global teams…..and, have fun + laugh along the way. 3) Certinians are solution oriented and highly professional: very collaborative cross-team stakeholders. Current team members are accountable, communicative, and always considering how they can be “1% better every day.” Enablement is a “team sport” and this is something I appreciate. 4) Supportive environment for parents with generous paternity/maternity leave benefits: Certinia “walks the walk” when it comes to supporting new Moms and Dads. I am extremely grateful for the support I received when I had my first child. There are MANY parents in leadership positions and family is valued across the organization, which was comforting as I navigated the transition to parenthood. The support I received during my time pregnant was unsurpassed and motivates me to give 150% as I return to work. 5) Investment in in-person collaboration: I really enjoy a hybrid working environment and personally, find a lot of value in having a physical office space in ATX. In person connection yields higher levels of collaboration, team work, and supports overall productivity. For employees who are fully remote, the company also makes investments in in-person team offsites, too. 6) My direct supervisor is creative and wicked smart: she gives me the agency to lead my team, and balances this with guidance and strategic feedback. I enjoy working for her and with her. 7) Clearly articulated priorities and KPIs: on the company and the team level, we know what we’re working towards. If something changes, we know why and the purpose is clearly articulated. 8) Opportunity for career growth: as the company grows, opportunities for career growth, new roles, opportunity naturally surface. A mentorship program is also in place to invest in talent. There is a clear investment in internal mobility.
Cons
Certinia is agile and a high growth company. The organization is open to feedback from employees + willing to evolve as needed in order to meet and exceed the expectations of their prospects/customers. They do this with scalability and sustainability in mind. I would consider the ability to make changes as needed a "pro" in business. It's necessary for competitive differentiation in our space. My body of work is fulfilling and challenges me to think critically. That said, if you're seeking a status quo, 9-5 job where your body of work is the same tasks day in and day out.....the above could be considered a "con" for some working styles. Certinia can, and often does, make changes at a faster pace than other competitors in our industry.
Pros
The biggest positives of this company are largely tied to what it used to be (the past) and the people who have been part of it. There was previously strong leadership in place, and many of those individuals helped build a solid foundation before ultimately leaving, which says a lot in itself. On top of that, there are genuinely incredible individual contributors across the organization, smart, hardworking, and supportive people who are doing their best in a very challenging environment. Ironically, because of how difficult things have become at the leadership level, it creates a uniquely strong bond among peers. Going through constant challenges, uncertainty, and frustration together builds real camaraderie, and many of the relationships you form here are meaningful and lasting.
Cons
If you’re considering a sales role here, I would strongly encourage you to think twice before joining. The biggest challenge is leadership. In my experience, it is the weakest I’ve seen in my career. There is a clear disconnect between executive priorities and what’s actually needed to build a healthy, successful sales organization. Many decisions feel short-term and financially driven, with a strong focus on positioning the company for a potential private equity outcome rather than investing in long-term employee success or customer value. There have also been ongoing internal concerns raised over time, including escalations to HR. However, there is a widespread perception/proof among employees that these issues are not meaningfully addressed or followed through on. This has led to a lack of trust in internal processes and a feeling that employee concerns are not prioritized. Over the past several months, a number of strong and respected leaders have left the organization. That alone should be a signal. The level of turnover has had a noticeable impact on morale, stability, and overall confidence in the direction of the company. From a sales perspective, the product itself presents challenges. PSA is a relatively niche category and often viewed as a “nice-to-have” rather than a must-have, especially in the current economic environment. Competition is strong, and it can be difficult to win deals. Additionally, the dependency on Salesforce creates real friction in the sales cycle. For example, newer AI-related offerings are tied to Salesforce’s Agentforce, meaning customers often need to purchase additional, expensive Salesforce products before they can even consider Certinia’s solutions. This adds complexity, slows down deals, and limits your ability to sell independently. During the interview process, you’ll likely meet some great, talented people. That part is genuine. However, many of those individuals will not stay long, and turnover can leave you in a very different environment than what you initially signed up for. Overall, I would not recommend this company for sales professionals looking for stability, strong leadership, and a product with clear, urgent market demand. There are significantly better opportunities out there. Trust me.
