CISA Central/CIOCC: Horrendous place to be a contractor - Contract Analyst Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Employee Review

Pros

Stability. As a contractor, you won't get fired because the turnover is so high.

Cons

Words can't really express how toxic this place is to its contract work force. You are the hired help. You will be berated on a regular basis. You will follow unclear guidance and be criticized for not getting it right. You will be gaslit and told the way you've been doing something for years has always been wrong. You will be held responsible for things you had no role in. Product standards change weekly, if not daily. Weren't working yesterday when a GS-15 decided you should use bullets instead of hyphens? Berated the next day. There's no system in place, much less an SOP to ensure products are standardized. It is a nightmare. You will become depressed, bitter, and angry. And if you stay longer than a year, there's a good chance you'll never leave. Eventually you will become content with the decent salary and easy work. And you'll learn to accept being treated like garbage by senior federal employees trying to climb the ladder. You'll believe that's how you deserve to be treated, and that you're not able to get a better job. So you'll stay. Don't work here as a contractor. If you have no other options, DO NOT stay longer than a year.
