Pros

-The resort setting is beautiful. -Working with a wide variety of locals. -Access to the spa (and talented world-class therapists) with discounted treatments.

Cons

-Management treats everyone as if they are replaceable. -Poor management- nobody is on the same page and politics reign supreme. -While some guests were lovely, there were a disproportionate amount of people with extremely high expectations and outsized entitlement. Why should they have to book hard to get appointments ahead, they DESERVE to have what they want NOW! Simply because they can afford it. This was a daily occurrence. -No Manager on duty at night, you're expected to take on deescalating guests (getting treated poorly) solve scheduling problems and HR related issues (employees who won't do their job or leave early). -It pays just shy of OK (for the area - which is generally low) but not well enough be put in these situations.

Pros

The property is one of a kind. It is beautifully surrounded by the red rocks and high desert landscape. There are great kind people that work there. And they truly care about each other and the guests. But not at the higher levels. The shuttle is a great service but you also have to be on its time. They do provide a meal. And there are really great room discounts if you’re able to take the time off but staffing is always an issue.

Cons

But where it matters is not great. From ownership to upper management there is a complete disconnect on the identity of the resort. Which then makes lower level teams seem chaotic and confusing to guests. There is a self righteousness from some of the executive team. There is a complete lack of communication between departments. They won’t/can’t hire qualified staff because they have this idea that the pay is comparable to other places around. It is not. Retaliation for complaining is rampant and you definitely can’t have open conversations with leadership much less Human Resources. There is a reason there is always 30+ positions open. People do not stay here because they do not know how to treat their employees. They have to use temp services because they can’t keep regular staff. Especially in the kitchens. Clear timely direction is not a known concept.
