Pros

- My team was lovely! Thank you to all of the sweet girls who I had the absolute pleasure of managing! - Free unlimited waxes. - Had amazing racial/ethnic diversity and representation in my territory. I did feel a little singled out as one of the only queer women in the building, but we're hard to find in this industry, I guess!

Cons

- Senior management was incredibly micro-managey. - Was called names, screamed at, and threatened by senior management on an almost daily basis :( - Was required to model Brazilian waxes in front of trainees, even if uncomfortable. Some trainees were very unprofessional about it :( - Had my job and pay threatened and held over my head often. - Wasn't paid enough to get a lawyer to fight the abuse I faced at this company. - Was made to deny my employees' time off requests even if I could easily make that time off work. - The raises I was allowed to offer my team, even if their performance was STELLAR, were miniscule and laughable. - HR was non-existent, so the only support you could get for mistreatment was screaming in the car on the way home. - Sick with COVID-19? Guess you're coming to work!

Pros

My waxer coworkers are fun to work with although they definitely have different waxer friend groups that exclude some of us

Cons

I’ve been made to work 6 days a week, opening shift after closing shifts to make up for hiring only 2 other GSA’s who have no availability so everything rides on me and if I’m sick I get reprimanded. Policies are not explained most of the time and they get upset after the fact if you aren't aware of them. It’s almost impossible to ever make commission since prices are unrealistic and the tedious work is only paid minimum wage. They say the most important duty is wax pass sales but set the bar too high. They watch your every move and take pictures of you for the littlest of things, I got in trouble for eating even though I was off the clock 30 mins before I opened shop. Most of the time manager duties fall on GSA’s and it’s almost impossible to use time off even though waxers and managers do it regularly. There’s been multiple instances of employees being endangered and assaulted, threatened, and 2 instances of GSA’s being unalived at work yet take no action to prevent this or keep us feeling safe even though they say they will. My center has water dripping in a bucket in our hallway regularly, we have to manually turn on the electric box every morning and sometimes our hall light doesn’t turn on. Our outlets have caught up in flames. We have product droughts for weeks and aren’t given cleaning products for weeks on end.
