-Low pay for amount of work expected. To achieve even a livable income but you must have high products sales, endure long shifts, while constantly seeing clients(between 15-25 people per day) 5 days a week. Don't expect to make as much if you're at a slow location or in a slow season. It will definitely have impact on your paycheck where and when you work. $10 an hour is your only guarantee.
-Mandatory extra shifts or added hours during black out dates which are 1 to 2 weeks prior to any holiday. With that policy they can schedule shifts so you have 1 or no days off and will give no notice or choice. Blackout week they will drive you to the ground. No mercy!!
-Turnover rate is high for waxers which leads to very frustrated guests. Also 3 new managers in a year and countless new guest services(front desk) employees. New girls at the front desk will make your job more difficult dealing with incompetent, poorly trained girls expected to open and close the store within a week or two of training. Not to mention their inexperience dealing with customers, booking, and having a good work ethic in general.
-Sale expectations. If you LOVE to sell then this place is for you. High standard for sales on a monthly basis. 15 products just for a waxing salon! You're expected to "pull products" off the shelf for every single guest and meet the sales minimum or else you will face punishment(cut hours, bad shift times)
-Owners/management. Managers quitting due to poor treatment from owners, lack of respect, and low pay. New managers cause a lot of disconnected staff, poor communication, and constant problems due to lack of knowledge and short training. Owners are clearly not interested in this industry, their employees, or customers. Just the financial rewards from a profitable business.
-Lack of trust between staff and managers. Call in sick, you're expected to have a doctors note.
-Required 4 to 6 week advanced notice for ANY time off. Sometimes approved, sometimes not even with coverage. Expected to pick up shifts and extend constantly but taking days off is difficult.
