Pros

My coworkers and absolutely nothing else.

Cons

I work for this company for 6 years. It is totally different that it was when I started. The company used to believe in giving the BEST wax. Then money got in the way. They took their amazing products and ruined them. All of their products are fragrance and water now. I think they forget that we are estheticians. All they care about is you selling them. They only care about product sales! They used to have the best wax. Funny thing is they think we are stupid and don't notice that they are cheapening their wax product. It's absolutely terrible now. Hard to work with, more painful. I believed in this company for years. Now they are all about selling products. It's not even about waxing anymore. They work their waxers to the bone, they are underpaid, they threaten your job if you don't sell their crappy products. It's sad. Not worth it.

Pros

-Short shifts (times depending on location) 8am-2pm or 2pm-9pm typical schedule during the week. 9am-5pm is the standard shift during weekends but it's difficult when you're fully booked and they never schedule you breaks besides lunch. -Free waxing. I mean unlimited but only if you have the spare time and "approval" from the manager (depending on the policy of your franchise owner) -DECENT wax (good for Brazilians but not for fine hair, like on the face) -Busy and steady amount of clients(will depend on location!) -Good tips! But when you have first time guests which happens A LOT, the services are either free or half off meaning lower tips for the same amount of work. -Great coworkers but mainly just the other waxers. (Not so much the GS or managers) -GREAT "guests" or clients. Of course every once in awhile you will have someone who might be difficult or rude and every blue moon someone who is just bat sh*t crazy. It's in every industry but the nice clients are far more than the bad and makes it the best thing about working here.

Cons

-Low pay for amount of work expected. To achieve even a livable income but you must have high products sales, endure long shifts, while constantly seeing clients(between 15-25 people per day) 5 days a week. Don't expect to make as much if you're at a slow location or in a slow season. It will definitely have impact on your paycheck where and when you work. $10 an hour is your only guarantee. -Mandatory extra shifts or added hours during black out dates which are 1 to 2 weeks prior to any holiday. With that policy they can schedule shifts so you have 1 or no days off and will give no notice or choice. Blackout week they will drive you to the ground. No mercy!! -Turnover rate is high for waxers which leads to very frustrated guests. Also 3 new managers in a year and countless new guest services(front desk) employees. New girls at the front desk will make your job more difficult dealing with incompetent, poorly trained girls expected to open and close the store within a week or two of training. Not to mention their inexperience dealing with customers, booking, and having a good work ethic in general. -Sale expectations. If you LOVE to sell then this place is for you. High standard for sales on a monthly basis. 15 products just for a waxing salon! You're expected to "pull products" off the shelf for every single guest and meet the sales minimum or else you will face punishment(cut hours, bad shift times) -Owners/management. Managers quitting due to poor treatment from owners, lack of respect, and low pay. New managers cause a lot of disconnected staff, poor communication, and constant problems due to lack of knowledge and short training. Owners are clearly not interested in this industry, their employees, or customers. Just the financial rewards from a profitable business. -Lack of trust between staff and managers. Call in sick, you're expected to have a doctors note. -Required 4 to 6 week advanced notice for ANY time off. Sometimes approved, sometimes not even with coverage. Expected to pick up shifts and extend constantly but taking days off is difficult.

Pros

Working with the team I hired.

Cons

The franchisee knows absolutely nothing about waxing or business for that matter. Upper management was consistently racist, derogatory and made harassing comments. I was pushed to only hire,"attractive girls, it doesn't matter if they know how to wax or not." The techniques taught in training were horrific, almost as if the company wants to cause irritation and ingrown hairs if only to get the guest to buy the products. Every employee was treated as disposable and when asking for advice from upper management on employee issues, was told, "we can just get rid of them and start over, we don't need them." Overall you will receive no benefits, no time off, no work life balance, make just over minimum wage and be treated like dirt.
