Pros
Used to be a place filled with passionate, skilled people. Sadly, most of them have already left.
Cons
H&M Group suffers from a massive and growing tech debt that leadership continues to ignore. Most of the truly competent engineers and product professionals have long since quit. What remains is a toxic environment with high turnover, constant reorgs, and offshoring to low-cost labor with little support or development. HR has lost all credibility – pushing for full return to office while ignoring the real issues affecting teams.
The workplace culture is rotten: political, cliquish, and increasingly hostile to anyone who questions leadership decisions. It’s not a psychologically safe environment – critics are marginalized, and mobbing or gaslighting tactics are not uncommon. Management focuses more on performative inclusivity (rainbow flags everywhere) than on building a healthy or respectful work culture. Meanwhile, senior leadership turnover is accelerating, with the former CEO quietly exiting amid internal drama.
Employees are routinely forced to reapply for their own jobs during restructurings, while morale continues to plummet. Avoid unless you're desperate – and even then, think twice!
