- It's not a SaaS business, they brute force growth through sales. They work very different than a traditional SaaS company.
- The product itself has many rough edges and tech debt.
- Questionable overall business strategy
- Founders feel disconnected and are not driving the business meaningfully. Checked out.
- CEO is VERY old school in philosophy. Militaristic, regimented, "alignment." Uses archaic leadership styles that instill fear, not trust.
- Tech leadership lacks experience building and scaling eng teams. Archaic practices like tops-down sprint planning, daily release trains across entire org, OKRs with no accountability, bug squashing for the point of bug squashing.
- Tech teams are in low cost centers with contractors, not US. Challenging work environment.
- On average, leadership is under qualified for their position and simply got there by being early to HCP before growth phase. With a tops-down org, this makes it difficult to drive work forward.
- Pay is poor compared to other opportunities in SaaS. Benefits are bad, no 401k match, equity is meaningless, etc.
