Great benefits and potential, but not what it used to be. - Specialist Michigan State University Federal Credit Union Employee Review

Pros

The benefits are unlike anything I have ever heard of...amazing! PTO is basically unlimited with how much you get but there is so much guilt when you take it. MSUFCU is also a great community partner and there are lots of ways to get involved with the clubs, sports, resource groups, etc. The work is often fulfilling until it's too much.

Cons

Micromanaged to the extreme. Work consumes life outside of scheduled hours and overtime is expected. MSUFCU should learn to trust their employees more and provide more flexible work options, but that might also depend on department. There are also so many random stupid gifts that they spend millions on when they should really treat them like adults with bonuses and promotions for a great job. Executive management is toxic and it trickles down the pipeline. However, if you're friends with the CEO or in her circle then you'll be fine. Huge conflict of interest as many people are hired in roles because they are friends or family of hers. Too political and I hope there is some change soon. All in all, they hook you with the benefits so the cons can easily be overlooked but there are so many other companies out there with better cultures and work/life balance.

Pros

Working at MSUFCU has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The work is fast-paced, innovative, and always evolving which keeps every day exciting. Leadership is forward thinking and truly invests in employees through AMAZING benefits, education and growth opportunities, and a strong focus on work-life balance. Having an onsite cafe at the headquarters, a workout facility and coworkers who genuinely feel like family make it an even better place to work. I hope to retire from here as it's the best job that I've had.

Cons

fast-paced with new projects all the time

Pros

You will meet some great co-workers and friends, they do generally employ good people.

Cons

You will meet wonderful human beings but this company will take advantage of you and their kindness in every single way you can possibly imagine. They do not care about their people, on a simple fundamental level. I went through a very difficult experience here (in short, I was sexually assaulted by a fellow employee at a company event) and they never did a single thing to support me, and instead blamed me for it for a very long time. Years later, I tried to hold them accountable for their part in what happened to me, and instead, they let me go for being “difficult”. Truly, my near 5 year experience at this company was traumatic, and I actively encourage loved ones to not seek MSUFCU out as an employer or lender. I have never trusted a company less. MSUFCU wants you to be a robot, and come in and hit impossible metrics, day in and day out. Have any other experience other than “I love the credit union”, then get out.
