Pros

These were the reasons I *used* to love working at Presence: - 100% remote - a culture of trust that remote employees would get the job done (and we did) - excellent colleagues - great benefits and pay Honestly, I had hoped this would be the last stop on my career path.

Cons

- Lack of transparency regarding the company's financial status and need for improvement (this was NEVER mentioned in company-wide meetings, which were always positive to the point of being unrealistically so) - Putting a Chief Product Officer in charge of Engineering hiring and layoff decisions (I have NEVER worked for a company that did this) - Almost 20% of the workforce laid off in one day without warning, including experienced developers, and ALL quality assurance employees who have any experience with the product - Despite the mass layoffs, they are hiring to replace those employees with a handful of "senior"-level candidates to give the appearance of an efficient, high-caliber organization from an org chart perspective - Mass layoffs come at a time when employee teams had just been rearranged to better address company's core initiatives to increase revenue, and one day (...ONE DAY!) after being told by above management that our positions were not in jeopardy

Thank you for your review. Transparency and employee engagement are core to our business, and we are always working to deliver on this. Our recent reorganization was focused on re-centering our business around our clinical expertise and investing in areas that will enable us to better serve our providers and schools. This was a difficult process, and we appreciate the value that team members have added to Presence during their time with us.

Pros

+ the colleagues I have worked with are delightful and driven to serve the students + my teammates are helpful and willing to pitch in + work life balance depends on the school season but overall manageable for being fully remote + company presentations are informative, highly scripted, and professional

Cons

- annual raises are stingy and below the inflation rate - the executive team and next level down leadership team are constantly turning over, which is exhausting - every c-suite title leader has changed in the last three years except for the CEO - the company strategy is unclear and my team's responsibilities have several times - it's clear that some teams are favorited way more than others (look at who they're hiring) - DEI has all but disappeared since the Chief People Officer left a few years ago
