Pros

Strong brand recognition and credibility in the financial industry. Exposure to diverse sectors, issuers, and complex credit analysis. High-quality training and professional development opportunities. Smart, collaborative, and knowledgeable colleagues. Good work-life balance compared to many investment banking roles.

Cons

Compensation may be lower than front-office banking or buy-side positions. Promotion process can be relatively slow and hierarchical. Significant documentation and compliance requirements. Work can become repetitive when covering the same sectors for extended periods. Tight deadlines during rating reviews and earnings seasons.

Pros

Great benefits, amazing office space, salary is fair

Cons

Force feed AI, large management chains create bureaucracy, lay offs every spring so C suite can get big bonuses. You have unlimited PTO but good luck using it, the only people that advance play politics and don’t actually know what they’re doing. Hard work and expertise is rewarded with minimal bonuses and absorbing more work from laid off peers. Leaving was the best decision I’ve made in years.
