Pros

Above Market Pay across departments but must negotiate aggressively in the beginning. Note some departments are more prized than others especially those that drive revenue (user growth, creative, partnership, monetization and not a "cost center" (finance, procurement, legal, or admin) to the company. Who you report to will be your life at Tiktok. When you interview, get a good sense of whether you want to report up to your manager. The saying is true: people don't leave jobs, they leave bad bosses. Tiktok as a tech company has tremendous potential with proper organization and structure it can become the top tech company it aspires to be.

Cons

Structural disorganization, inappropriate and unmarketable titles/job roles (what is PMO), lack of clarity and enforced ambiguity, transferring of responsibilities until next crop of unassuming newbies come along, HRBP very shifty, Chinese monitoring of all activities on proprietary platform, departmental misalignment, and unqualified upper management.

Pros

There are some truly fantastic and talented people in the company who make daily collaboration a great experience. Additionally, the insurance and overall health benefits package is quite strong and comprehensive.

Cons

The work culture is heavily driven by top-down directives from HQ, leaving little room for open discussion, transparency, or questioning management decisions. The bi-yearly rating cycle feels highly punitive and is frequently used to target individuals rather than foster growth, leading to an environment where anyone can be abruptly let go. Work-life balance is virtually non-existent due to tedious, high-volume workloads and constant alignment with overseas timelines. Furthermore, leadership instability is a constant concern; local management changes rapidly, frequently replaced by leaders from the parent company, creating an unpredictable and highly volatile work environment.
