Pros

Decent pay, some good managers and upper level management.....some.

Cons

Quite frankly speaking, Travelers has become a shell of it's former self. Travelers went from being one of the best places to work on Forbes and every other major list to not being mentioned at all. When you get past the unit manager positions, it's a good ol' boys club from there on up. It's not about what you can do or any particular skill set that will move you up, it's who you know. Upper management has become stiff and full of platitudes, with no real chance for advancement unless you know somebody. There has been a push for people to return to office, which has done NOTHING to improve productivity. Travelers upper management lacks the ability to deal with individual situations with a scalpel, instead using a broad sword to carve out there decisions. They also focus on fixing things which are not broken, rather than addressing the glaringly obvious short comings in either software or workflow situations. It actually saddens me to the core to see where this company has gone in the last 10 years, focused on shareholder profits rather than employee satisfaction. People used to work here 20-30 years, now they burn out in less than 5. You can tell the older generation that is ready to retire already has one foot out the door, collecting checks until their retirement date, which given the current state of the company, is understandable. I can't say I wouldn't recommend someone to work here who just wanted a job, but as a career.....given their thirsty push into the realm of A.I., I would stay clear.

Pros

Everyone I work with here is great - friendly, dedicated, hard working, professional, but also fun. The company is very aware that their employees are people. They encourage us to use our time off. We have mindfulness trainings. Our medical plan includes things like 8 free therapy sessions and free visits with a lawyer for consults. Also, I genuinely get the sense that Travelers is a good company. We are encouraged to volunteer. When we do, they award us $20 for every hour of community service worked, and that money can be used to donate a charity of our choice. Then, Travelers will match the money that they already gave us. The leadership is working to be zero emissions by 2030 and I believe they will do. It's a great place to work. There are so many different business units, departments, and offices in this company that if your role isn't fulfilling you can probably find another position that will be a good fit. You are also likely to find another office in the country if you have to (or want to) move. The company is very open to people finding the right place for them.

Cons

Everyone has a very full plate. It's not an insurmountable amount of work but it will keep you very busy. We also require at least 3 days per week in office in my region, but honestly, it's nice to back in an office with people. You will likely pay more for benefits here but they have different plans depending on what you're looking for.
