Pros

Working for a Major Brand

Cons

Despite being provided numerous promises when accepting the role, the executive team provided little to desire, no intent in following-through with promises for growth/opportunities, and no interest in creating an atmosphere conducive of success. There was no actual "marketing" department, as their interest in marketing relied solely on the history and ensuring that sponsors were coming in the door. Teams have successfully grown their fanbase because they have evolved and targeted different demographics. The Redskins strategy is just maintaining. It's also no secret that you are grossly underpaid. While the sports industry salary across the board is on the lower-end, for team positions especially - the Redskins hit a all-time low. Many times the manager title is offered to recent college grads as they are eager to get into the door, which also means they can low-ball them in salary and start the foundation of having a low salary and a steeper incline to move up. What LaVar Arrington shared in a recent interview resonated with everyone who has been part of the organization. When he says, "You’re told not to look the owner in the eyes,” that is word from word exactly what is shared to you when first coming to the organization. Culture has been plastered across the media in recent months, because that is exactly what the struggle is with the organization. When they can finally fix the toxic environment that has continued to breed within those walls the past years, then that will be the day their product on the field will finally change.
