      Pros

      Good overall place to work, some great benefits

      Cons

      Workife balance heavily depends on which department you're in. Really unfair conditions without cause. Some people get to have remote work while others don't; I've experienced not being granted professional development opportunities while others at the same level have them; compensation is all over the place; culture at some places can be really warm and encouraging, while other departments lack boundaries and can be toxic.

      Incredible campus and student body. Thoughtful staff genuinely committed to making the university incredible. Ideal work life balance.

      Some software engineering roles are a little disjunct from the campus life and silo'd into internal affairs

      In academia, where salaries are generally lower than in the corporate sector, there can be a disproportionate amount of arrogance because many people are motivated by prestige and status rather than financial compensation.
