All branding, no substance

Pros

Attract people who care about clean energy and renewables; generous health insurance and PTO benefits; flexible remote work policy

Cons

If you look at Enel media and branding, you'd think they're the most progressive and inclusive company. That is a facade, and underneath that you're still working for a clunky, bureaucratic, male-dominated company with limited ability for upward mobility for all employees in North America, and little respect for women. Then on top of all that, Enel pays about 20% below market for many positions, so there's really no reason to stay. The People and Organization team is mismanaged and ineffective, but ultimately the root of all the problems is the leadership, both in North America and globally.

Pros

Nice new office, free coffee, summer hours, decent tele-commuting policy if your boss supports that. Seems to be a good group of people that work there, people passionate about renewable energy and trying to make a difference.

Cons

Very old-fashioned recruiting, very slow and disorganized hiring process, lack of onboarding, matrix style reporting relationships and Enel's Global policies cripple North American operations with their complexity and lack of applicability in the US. Seems to be an overabundance of people in Engineering & Construction and not in the departments that ultimately end up with an operational site (Operation & Maintenance, Safety, Procurement) Very outdated policies and benefit allowances/ contributions on 401k (hardly a match) vacation (starts people @ 2 or 3 weeks) / sick / PTO / Maternity. Laughable to companies like Google, Netflix, Facebook, etc. Very limited job potential as many positions are magically filled with Italian people from HQ who are trying to progress in their careers, limiting mobility within, even laterally. There is a HUGE nepotism issue at the US location. Some people are NOT competent, or qualified for the positions they fill, and they occupy a position based on who their spouse is.

Pros

they produce a product you can believe in, and benefits are good

Cons

they demand excessive work hours and offer reasonable pay but then when you meet the criteria, they continue to demand more and more without offering the extra compensation
