Pros

Some of the greatest people work here. Was a much better company back in the day. Remote options for work/life balance only due to covid Some of the subsidiaries are better to work for.

Cons

Terrible pay, basic 2% yearly compensation, not much opportunities for raises. HR department doesn't back the employees. HR department doesn't go above and beyond. Not much growth opportunities. performance reviews are not accurate and a waste of time. Benefits are awful and expensive Not loyal to employees No training You are basically on your own unless you have a really good boss and there are only a few of them

Pros

The JOB (the work you do on a daily basis) itself is great.

Cons

The management is horrible, absolutely horrible. There is so much shady stuff going on. They will never be straight up with you, they will go around and talk crap about you to other employees but they will never come to you and address any problems. The men in this company are completely sexist. Women in this company are never promoted to managers. You will barely see any people of color in this building. Also, there is absolutely NO TRAINING. They might “train” you for one day and then throw you into the position. And when you make a mistake, they say “you aren’t confident” or “you’re not working out”

Lay off's

Pros

The benefits are great, with full medical, dental, vision, and so on immediately on starting. The work is minimal on stress.

Cons

Office open on Christmas Eve. Extremely high average age of employees. Oct 30, 2019 laid off 24 people. 2 people have quit and they are not being replaced. Nature of this industry is stopping. Everything is on-line not in print. Magazines are stopping. Sure more lay offs are coming. Many employees involved in the most recent waves of lay-offs had worked there well over 20-25 years. If you are not in a the "good 'old white guy" club, you will not move up. No women/ no one of color in upper management. Management is terrible. Consistently makes bad decisions based on a buddy system. Most older employees know less but are valued more. Young employees have no place to move up due to behind the back plans in place for people who don't deserve promotions. Pay is lower than companies near by. There is no incentive to work hard. You are paid the same as your worst fellow associates.Extremely low salary increases (2%)
