Pros

As with most firms there are good a bad, I was growing the group in the office (and still giving away work to other offices) and the President then developed Change is Good (GIG). It was the "pro" it is was allowed my group to grow from me to 5 and was at a point to grow to 8 to 12.

Cons

The con was we could not hire until we had the work but that hampered the growth, then in spite of working thru overwhelming bullies and impediments to progress and having the good profits for the year, was told we did not have enough work.

Pros

They were flexible with my work schedule, which allowed me to better care for my children.

Cons

There is no team or camaraderie. Everyone just comes in, does their work, and leaves. There is no effort made to get to know anyone on a personal level. The focus was always on procedures instead of people. Too much attention is given to menial details instead of big picture goals. In my entire time here, I don't believe my VP ever said two words to me. And my direct manager only spoke to me when it was about a specific project (or to point out something that was done incorrectly). There was no positive feedback or encouragement. The decision to leave was an easy one.

Pros

Flexible work schedule. Nice people, fairly decent benefits but that's about it.

Cons

Low pay for amount of work you do. Overworked, the company is too cheap to hire more staff, so you end up with double the work and stressed. Poorly managed divisions and managers that lack skill and training to manage effectively. The company is run by a private investment company that is cheap. No bonuses, no incentives, no recognition. The company is not competitive at all. Barely any holidays. No growth and career advancement. High turn-over, it was a revolving door at times. The company has a huge retention problem. There were constant reorganizations and mergers every year. Many of the offices had a bad reputation for being an old boys club and this was well known throughout the company. Not the best treatment of employees. Boring work. Six months in the job, I knew I would not be staying so what does that tell you? Nah, stay away, there are far better companies that will offer you more. Glad to have moved on and lucky to have been offered an incredible new job with an amazing company. Do not miss working at GFT.
