Pros

There are no pros from working here. You will only find confusion, sorrow, exhaustion, obnoxious behavior, arrogance by partners, hoarding of information by coworkers, fatigue, stress, and zero teamwork.

Cons

Everything about this place was a big negative experience. Partners snorting illicit powdered substances prior to meetings in order to function. Engagement managers doing shady things financially in order to make themselves look good, but to the detriment of their workers. The work is not rewarding and not complex but due to the stifling administrative bureaucracy, what should only take a day ends up taking a week. Constant scheduling conflicts, people schedule and cancel the same meeting multiple times (triple and quadruple bookings). Everything is Always last minute and rushed with very poor planning and forethought which causes unnecessary stress and conflict.

While Grant Thornton disagrees with your assessment of office culture, we are truly disappointed to hear that this was your experience at Grant Thornton. We are interested in understanding your concerns in more detail and hope you are open to sharing more about your experience with our National Employee Relations Manager. The behavior described in this report is contradictory to the uncompromising principles which are guided by Grant Thornton’s CLEARR values and Code of Conduct. Our Code of Conduct and CLEARR values govern all aspects of our business practices, behaviors and relationships within and outside the firm. Moreover, Grant Thornton makes every effort to foster an environment in which people feel safe to report perceived violations without the fear of retaliation or retribution. Grant Thornton also strives to provide a work environment in which employees can perform their jobs in a respectful workplace under acceptable working conditions. Grant Thornton has a comprehensive Alcohol and Drug Free Workplace policy. The Firm believes illegal drugs and the abuse of alcohol have no place in the workplace, therefore, prohibits unlawful possession, use, or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol by its personnel. Your feedback is very important to us, as reporting perceived violations is key to addressing such behavior. Although you identified yourself as a former employee of Grant Thornton, we would value the opportunity to connect with you to understand your concerns. You may reach our National Employee Relations Manager directly at (704) 632-3511 or anonymously through the EthicsPoint Hotline at (866) 739-4134. Pros

-Great people to work with, everyone is inclusive and friendly. -The work/life balance is good. Hours are busy, but manageable. Our Flex Time Off policy gives us unlimited time off as long as we are maintaining certain percentage of chargeable hours, which is not hard to do. -Great culture. GT has really stressed culture in recent years. We strive for Collaboration, Leadership, Excellence, Agility, Responsibility, and Respect. -We are a mid-tier firm, so we are working with large clients on a regular basis. However, we are still able to have a "small firm feel" when it comes to working with small teams. -Opportunities. Endless opportunities at Grant Thornton. You have flexibility to transition into different service lines within the firm. Recruiters are also constantly trying to hire you into industry positions. Even in your current position, you have the freedom to choose the industry you're interested in (financial services, real-estate, etc.). -Flexibility. As you move up in the firm, you have more freedom to choose the hours you work. Some people like to come in early and leave early, others come in late and stay late, most work the normal 9 to 5 during off peak times. -Growth. GT is a growing firm. We are really trying to differentiate ourselves from the other mid-tier firms through our marketing campaign. This gives us access to better clients and better brand recognition.

Cons

-It is public accounting, so obviously hours are long (55-70 hours during busy season, 35-50 during off-peak times) -Travel. I am fortunate and only travel about 25% or less, but I know people who are on the road a lot.

Outsourcing all IT

Pros

Great people and benefits. Used to be a great culture. The work was interesting and your peers were competent and very friendly.

Cons

Now that all IT is being outsourced they've broken the 12 year top 100 places to work in IT streak in favor of saving 30% of IT spend. Of course this savings will not happen beyond the first year. Sogeti is trying to snap up the best people but they have bad benefits and don't seem to respect their employees or clients. Senior leadership is in over their heads.
